Ed’s Note : A good number of years ago, I was asked to attend a Nathaniel show at Emperors’ Palace in the East Rand. I went along with my family and told them that I probably wouldn’t last 5 minutes and that they should expect that I would leave after 5 minutes as I couldn’t see myself staying the 90 minutes. Well that changed within the first 10 minutes. Nathaniel is a weaver of tales, a story teller of note and he kept me enthralled for the entire 90 minutes and I have not missed a show since. Changing between English and Afrikaans and breaking his monotone with music and prose, he tells his story while keeping you in stitches or wiping away a tear in the same breath.
I have never missed a show since and I look forward to his next one coming next month. A perfectionist he is on stage for only a few short weeks a year and does not take it to other centre so don’t miss it whatever you do!
